Analytical Thinking
Chess teaches players to break problems down, compare options and make thoughtful decisions.
Improve thinkingAbout Gambits
Gambits was created to make chess feel welcoming, exciting and achievable for beginners and improving players across Ireland.
The goal is simple: help pupils understand the game, enjoy the board, think ahead and build confidence one move at a time.
The Mission
Chess is often made to seem harder than it needs to be. It can be presented as intimidating, overly serious or only for certain types of people.
Gambits takes the opposite approach. Chess is for everyone. With the right guidance, it becomes easy to understand, enjoyable to play and genuinely addictive in the best possible way.
How We Teach
Gambits focuses on helping each player understand the ideas behind the moves. The aim is not to bury pupils in theory, but to help them see what is happening on the board.
Lessons are practical, friendly and built around the player’s level, whether they are brand new to chess or already improving.
Think. Plan. Win.
A good chess lesson does more than improve a game. It helps pupils develop the kind of thinking that carries into school, work and everyday life.
Chess teaches players to break problems down, compare options and make thoughtful decisions.
Improve thinking
Every move matters. Pupils learn to think beyond the obvious and understand what may happen next.
Start learning
Chess builds calm decision-making, resilience and confidence by showing players that mistakes can become lessons.
Book a lessonA Better Use Of Time
Chess is still modern and accessible online, but it asks more from the mind than scrolling, tapping or watching.
It is active. It is creative. It rewards patience, imagination and focus. For children and adults, that makes it a powerful and enjoyable habit.
